Disability

Football in the Community strive to deliver grassroots playing opportunities for every player in the local community, regardless of ethnicity, ability or gender.

Working closely with our partners we ensure that football is accessible to everyone who wishes to play football. We work closely with the Wiltshire FA on delivering their Disability Football Strategy which has grown hugely in the past 24 months. Opportunities have been created for 100's of disabled footballers from wheelchair users to visually impaired players.

Working in tandem with the Swindon Borough Council, Football in the Community also deliver Twilight Football. This project is designed to create positive, divisionary activities for young people and lessen the risk of them becoming involved in anti-social behaviour. This project also trains these young people to become coaches on the project and in turn being positive role models to other referrals.

Finally, Football in the Community have had a very successful Black & Ethnic project for which the Football Foundation funded a 5 year scheme back in 2002. Although the funding has now stopped this does not stop the good work the team do working closely with the Borough Council and creating opportunities and pathways for BME players.
